Berlin2011 Fast competitive (sunday) tourney of individuals system Arena5 v 0.001 (draft idea by SKAcz) Number of participants : any 5+ Time allocated : about number of games * time control = about max 45*5 , ie 4 hours Offered time control : 2min +1s for move bronstein or 3minutes per game. System description: Before tourney You need set of cards with card numbers (=CN) from 1 to n where n is number of players. Every player will get random card. On top of card will be writen his Name. On this card keeps his results. Card consist from lines with header OrderNumber(=ON),Points1,Points2,Points3,Points4,Points5,SumRoundPoints,SumPoints. Tourney round one : Sort players based on CN (from lower to higher) and write into row 1 and column OrderNumber the order (what is equal with CN now). Create round groups consists from 5 players based on ON: 1-5,6-10,11-15, ... In every group each player 1x is odd and serve as assistant of arbiter / or arbiter, meanwhile rest 4 playing. This way is made 5x 4 players GameGroup. In each GameGroup plays everybody with everybody total 3 games. Determine HN for players in GameGroup this way : H1 is lowest ON, H2 second lowest ON, ... (For example players 16,17,18,19,20 will get HN 1,2,3,4,5.) Colors and opponents of games are determined by HN : . H1w+H2 vs H3+H4w (means 1 partner 2, 1 playing versus 3, 1 have white pieces) H3w+H1 vs H4+H2w (means 1 partner 3, 1 playing versus 2, 1 have black pieces) H1+H4w vs H3+H2w (means 1 partner 4, 1 playing versus 3, 1 have black pieces) (This system balances as possible colors, opps, importance of match.) Write number of points every player did in GameGroup in appropriate row and column on card (Points1, .., Points5) and sum of all points into SumRoundPoints, SumPoints (after tourney round 1 = SumRoundPoints). Tourney round two : Sort players based on SumPoints (from most collected points to least) and write into row 2 and column OrderNumber the order. (So player who collected most points get lowest ON). Same way like in round one create round groups and game groups and then write results. Tourney round 3 Finale : Sort players based on SumPoints (from most collected points to least) and write into row 2 and column OrderNumber the order. Create round groups and game groups same way like in previous tourney rounds. Here is big difference now : for total order in tourney and determining winner are used only points collected by players in last round and also in every group is played only for 5 places in range. So in group 1 is played for 1-5 place , in group 2 for 6-10 place, in group 3 for 11-15 place ... Pozn. If is not 5xN number of players, the virtual are added as rest. Games with virtuals will be handled this way : if 1 real and 3 virtuals, the team of real wins, otherwise the real play simul instead of his virtual pard : so it leads to 1 vs 1 simul or 1 vs 2 players simul in bughouse chess. Virtuals will soon be unimportant and will not go into finales.
